D-DAY 2024
The Red Lion in Overton will be commemorating D-Day on Sunday 9th June.

We are hoping people to dress-up in period costumes to make the event a celebration of the 80th anniversary of the largest land, air and sea invasion in military history.
SUNDAY 9TH JUNE
Following Sunday Lunch (please book in advance) we will be hosting a series of wartime themed events including live music from the Vintage Sweethearts who will be singing wartime classics such as 'Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree' and 'Boogie Woodie Bugle Boy'.

Hoop and stick games and a 'Spot the Spitfire' quiz will be held outside, as well as a 'human Shove Ha'penny' game to win a limited edition bottle of Foot Guards Gin.

We are grateful to Portway Austins Classic Car Club who are bringing period vehicles in their blackout arrangement with owners dressed as ARP Wardens. and have invited the local Army Cadet Force to perform a drill parade.
With an afternoon BBQ served to the sounds of Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman, customers will get the chance to enjoy cream teas and 'Warcake' with our special 'Ration Book' menu offerings which include a glass or wine, or pint of traditional English Ale.
