DAY OF THE DEAD

In addition to our annual Halloween Party fancy dress party, The Red Lion will also be hosting a Mexican Night to celebrate the country’s unique take on Halloween.

On Saturday November 1st, the pub will be hosting a Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead).  In the tradition of this yearly Mexican festival customers are welcome to bring photos of deceased loved ones, plus an offering of their favourite food or drink to be placed on the colourful Ofrenda (Altar).

Dia De Los Muertos blends ancient Aztec traditions with Spanish Catholic practices where offerings of food, drink, photos and flowers welcome visiting spirits.

The Ofrenda (Altar) will be decorated with bright colours.  The festival celebrates death as being a natural part of life.
